Heat Treating

Heat Treating is the process of heating or heating and cooling of a metal or alloy in the solid state to obtain a desired condition or properties. Viking has in house heat treating capabilities for annealing, normalizing, austenize & quenching, tempering, spheroidize annealing, precipitation hardening (age hardening) and stress relieving. All of our furnaces are maintained to AMS 2750:Pyrometry. AMS 2750 specification covers pyrometric requirements for thermal processing equipment used for heat treatment. It covers temperature sensors, instrumentation, thermal processing equipment, system accuracy tests and temperature uniformity surveys. These are necessary to ensure that parts or raw materials are heat treated with the applicable specifications. All of Viking's furnaces use digital paperless graphic recorders for clear easy to read furnace charts.
